En novembre 1968, Warnes fait partie de la comédie musicale Hair de Los Angeles, et sort Let The Sunshine In/Easy To Be Hard, sur Parrot à nouveau l'année suivante. En 1970, elle rencontre le poète et chanteur canadien Leonard Cohen. Ils deviennent amis et Jennifer Warnes participe en tant que choriste à plusieurs de ses albums au long d'un parcours de plusieurs années. En 1971, elle fait la connaissance de Leonard Cohen, pour qui elle assure le rôle de choriste. Ils deviennent amis, et Jennifer donnent des concerts de premières parties pour Leonard, conservant son rôle dans les chœurs ou les arrangements on retrouve sa collaboration sur les albums Live Songs, Various Positions, I'm Your Man, The Future, Field Commander, Recent Songs2 En 1987, elle sort un album de reprise de leonard cohen Famous Blue Raincoat.

Rob Wasserman a entre autres joué avec Bruce Cockburn, Elvis Costello, Ani DiFranco, Jerry Garcia, David Grisman, Rickie Lee Jones, Mark Morris, Aaron Neville, Lou Reed, Pete Seeger, Jules Shear, Studs Terkel[réf. nécessaire], Bob Weir, Brian Wilson, Chris Whitley, Neil Young, Jackson Browne, Banyan (en), Dan Hicks, Van Morrison, Oingo Boingo.
Il a rejoint Bob Weir du Grateful Dead pour former Ratdog. Il a été remplacé au sein de ce groupe par Robin Sylvester.
Il a aidé à populariser l'utilisation de la contrebasse dans la musique rock.
En tant qu'artiste solo, son œuvre personnelle la plus connue est une trilogie d'albums Solo, Duets et Trios.
